Dubai, UAE, 21st May 2014: Intercoil International, the region’s leading manufacturer, retailer and distributor of premium beds, bedding and bedroom furniture, celebrated its 40th anniversary at a glittering gala reception in Dubai this week, in the company of local, regional and international industry guests and friends of the brand.
One of the most dynamic and innovative home-grown UAE companies, Intercoil was established in 1974 by the late Abbas Ali Al Hazeem. Today the company employs more than 400 people, owns two manufacturing facilities in the UAE, and operates eight distribution centres and 23 retail outlets across the region. Its export footprint currently includes 23 countries in the MENA and Levant.
Substantial investment of more than AED30 million in the past 24 months has enabled Intercoil to increase manufacturing capabilities and meet its ambitious plans to appoint new subsidiaries and establish distribution points in new territories such as CIS countries, South-East-West Africa, Central Asia and Eastern Europe.

Intercoil’s 40th anniversary celebration also marked the launch of a new corporate identity that represents the future vision of the brand, and its mission to become a key global player in beds, bedding and bedroom furniture. The rebranding consists of a new, refreshed corporate logo and a new name and visual identity for their retail stores across the region: “The Bedroom by Intercoil”.
International confidence in Intercoil has been reinforced through the recent renewal of its exclusive Middle East licensing agreement with leading US bedding company, Simmons, the preferred brand for top hotel companies around the world for many decades.
Travelling from the company’s US Headquarters in Atlanta, Simmons Bedding Company’s Director for Global Licensing, Todd Merker, said: “Since its inception in 1974, the strong values instilled by Intercoil’s founder, Mr. Abbas Ali Al-Hazeem, have paved the way for Intercoil to hold a highly respected leading position in UAE’s very competitive mattress and furniture industry. In its mission to expand beyond the Middle East, Intercoil recently signed an exclusive licensing agreement with Kenyan Bobmil Group of Companies. The deal which allows Bobmil Group to exclusively manufacture and sell Intercoil’s bedding products in Kenya, marked one of the first manufacturing licensee agreements by a UAE-based business to other countries in the world.
In 2013 Intercoil was recognized as a high performing organization, and honored with the prestigious Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Business Excellence Award. Intercoil also holds the Dubai Quality Appreciation Certificate, and was ranked 4th in the Dubai SME 100 2012 as well as being awarded the Dubai CSR Label for the last three consecutive years.
In it sustained efforts to add value to its customers’ lives, Intercoil has launched Sleep Matters, a community initiative to help educate, inform and encourage health and wellbeing for UAE residents.
